That is how long it takes to measure your room with the mic on your Mac. Three positions, eight seconds each.
It is built on the Process Taps in macOS 14.4. No driver. There is no Windows version and there never will be.

Every switch is announced with a two-second strip. If that was not it, one click takes it back and Ekhio learns.
A preset is a guess. This is a measurement.
“Bass Boost” has no idea your back wall is already handing you 9 dB at 80 Hz. Ekhio sends pink noise out through your speakers, listens with the mic from where you sit, and that becomes the base for every profile.

What people ask before installing
What if I do not want it switching by itself?
You turn automatic switching off with one toggle and Ekhio stays on the profile you pick. But try it for a week first: the whole point is that you forget it is there.
Is there a Windows version?
No, and there never will be. Ekhio exists because macOS 14.4 brought Process Taps, the same pipe the system uses to record screen audio. Everything it does, it does with what your Mac already has: no driver, no extension, no restart.
What happens when the 14 days are up?
Ekhio switches off and audio passes through untouched. Your measurement, the rules it learned and your presets are kept; paste the key in and it all comes back exactly as you left it.
Do I need a special microphone to measure?
No. The one in your Mac is enough for what Ekhio corrects: what your room does to your speakers right where you sit. A measurement mic improves accuracy, but you do not need one.
What if you shut the server down one day?
You keep working exactly the same. The app calls our server once, when you activate: it registers that Mac and brings back a signed receipt that lives in your Keychain. From then on the license is verified offline, so a Mac that is already activated keeps working even if the server disappears.
